Committed to sharing the magic of reading, The Sensory Storyteller shares favourite nursery rhymes and classic children’s stories using a multisensory approach, early communication strategies (including Makaton signing) and termly themes, to engage babies and children of all ages and abilities!

THE SENSORY STORYTELLER?
Hi, I’m Hayley!
As a qualified and experienced Primary and SEN teacher, I have been passionate about learning through play for as long as I can remember!
I also know how important early communication skills and early learning goals are, particularly Post-Covid, and how important inclusivity is for all children.
After leaving full time teaching when I became a mum myself, I realised just how valuable community classes are, not only our little ones, but for our own mental wellbeing too.
So I made it my mission to develop effective but relaxed, enjoyable classes for both parents and their little ones to engage and learn in, across Staffordshire, Stoke and Cheshire.
Since then, I have also delivered workshops in a variety of settings, including nurseries, Mainstream and Special Schools, charity groups, childminder groups, libraries and festivals and I plan on delivering ‘Sing, Sign and Storytime’ classes as well as my ‘Sensory Storytelling’ classes very soon too!

Services
the staby/ Toddler Classes
Relaxed and baby led, these classes are as much about supporting new parents as they are about your baby’s development.
They provide a small, no pressure community to catch up with other parents and to share your new baby experiences with them! Hot drinks and biscuits are also always provided at every class.
But of course, it is about the little ones too!
Planned around the early learning goals, we explore a new theme each term/ block and every week we will dive into a brand new story, using sensory play and exploration, bubbles, music, signing and puppets to bring the story alive!
Bespoke Nursery/ School Workshops
Did you know, reading for pleasure is the single biggest indicator of a child’s future success, more than their family circumstances, parents’ educational background or income?
I am passionate about developing reading for pleasure from birth and believe that every child should believe in the magic of reading and feel that it is accessible to them.
Sensory Storytelling is so much more than reading for pleasure too – it is a tool to develop social, emotional, communication, interaction, physical skills… the list really is endless!
As well as being fully trained in Level 1 and 2 Makaton, and Makaton Signing for Babies and Families, I have received training in Attention Autism, Story Massage and Helicopter Storytelling, as well as a variety of other teacher based training.

Me and Kendrick have just finished our 6 week Fantastic Fairytale group… we have had an absolute blast. Hayley is amazing with the kids, the stories and props are so entertaining for the little ones and us mamas get to sit back for five, have a hot cuppa and a treat!! (I swear that’s not why we go 
). The whole set up is so relaxed and there’s no pressure for the little ones to join in if they are timid or if they need to sleep or feed.
